Hillary Clinton is on a regional tour of Asia and today while visiting Malaysia she praised Malaysians for adopting a moderate form of Islam and urged them to reject "extremism".
LM has always admired the Malaysians however one can't help thinking that this regional tour by Clinton has more to do with keeping an eye on China than any concern for the development of Malaysia as a vibrant prosperous Muslim nation. Moreover, I also find it so patronising of Politicians from America who travel the world talking about moderation and extremism when they as a country from the time they wiped out the native Americans and lynched people because they were black have the real track record of extremism.
What Americans require is a dose of plain speaking by those of us who acknowledge American extremism although I welcome the fact that black people in America are no longer kicked off buses, segregated or lynched because of the colour of their skin.
LM urges the American Govt to also reject extremism by apologising to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan for the crimes carried out by American troops.
